![]() Good option for folks who like staying outside of the ordinary, especially those who appreciate adventure travel and look for something different. Overall - given the high prices of rooms in downtown Dallas at the ordinary chain boring business hotels I would say the Indigo is a good value for the budget traveler even without the Baylor discount rate. The Texas Bar had a meeting going on and a few elevator conversations indicated it was less than what they expected. This may be why some western business travelers may find this not meeting their travel tastes. For my wife it reminded her of a 2/3 star Hotel in India when we travel there. For me the hotel had the basics I look for in hotels I stay in around the world - hot water, wifi, working desk, clean, quiet. It is a remodel of an older hotel in the downtown area and some attention to detail in the construction is lacking. This is a hotel that you will either like or not which is why I give it an average rating when some reviews are excellent and others not so great. For our story this was a perfect hotel even with its flaws. I had flown in from a business trip early afternoon and they arrive at 1 am the next morning. For us, this allowed our adult daughter, who had driven my wife from Tucson, to sleep in the front room on the pull-out couch rather than getting a second room. Free shuttle service and was flexible going day-to-day. A best friend was in ICU in serious condition with no options left for doctors so we were all here waiting to see how her life would end. I stayed two nights because the family of a good friend was already there when I arrived in Dallas. The standard room seems a bit cramped for me. If we stay again we will be sure to get the 2 room suite as it is very nice and spacious. Check out was a breeze and the valet parking was great. We did have breakfast around 1030 after we returned from our business. Hubby liked his salad with chicken and it was close to the same price. 15 bucks for a very cheesy flatbread with cherry tomato halves and grilled chicken seems pricey to me. We did stay in and eat at the bistro that evening. The location is awesome and close to many restaurants and night life. ![]() Then return to the hotel to eat and check out. So we fight rush hour traffic, construction, etc but we make it. Shuttle would not take us to the appt as it was "in the gray area of their radius", whatever that means. Never got one so we were 30 minutes late waking up. Asked for a wakeup call through the automated service. ![]() Good thing there was a door where the sink was located. Our bathroom was TINY, could not really close the door to the shower/ toilet area without stepping into the shower. The TV cannot be tilted or moved so one must sit in front of it at the desk to watch it. I do NOT like that the lamps are not really bright and there is no overhead lighting. I do like the big trays they have in the room, flip it over and it's a great lap desk. This time we had a standard room, very comfy bed (though no pillows except for small square ones), desk, TV, lamps but only one small overhead light over the coffee area. The only thing I don't like about the hotel- there are NO VIEWS either time we stayed here. We were on the 11th floor, elevators are quick- a bit noisy but quick. We stayed here on a Monday, check in was painless and quick. We have stayed here before for leisure, this time for business. But, it's a good option to save money by staying there and eating at the other restaurants in the area. I also didn't like how much light shined into the room from around the door at night. It's an older building so you can hear everything on your floor. Moral of the story is, staying there was fine. The next morning we ate at CBD in the Joule hotel and I had the same veggie omelet for $12 but it was top quality and came with house-made sourdough. Why are they charging $13 for a low-quality breakfast? It sat in my stomach like a brick all day. My omelet was $13 and had that packaged single-sliced cheese on top (like a Kraft single but it probably wasn't even Kraft) and came with wonderbread toast. It was too late to find another breakfast option. But, who needs knowledgeable people anymore when you have internet? We thought breakfast was included because it usually is at other IGH hotels and also the receptionist said "breakfast is served over there". It's one of the cheaper hotels in the area so we weren't expecting luxury. The hotel is fine it's not luxury, but it's fine.
